Servaes Services: from a slow PHP website to a lightning-fast Astro site
How we scraped the existing PHP website of Servaes Services, optimised the content for SEO and GEO and rebuilt the site in Astro on Cloudflare Workers. Result: a site that loads 4 times faster and scores 95/100 on PageSpeed mobile.
An outdated PHP site was overdue for a refresh. What Servaes Services needed: a fast, search-engine-friendly website that digitally matches their reputation in moving and storage.
Challenge
The existing PHP website was slow, hard to maintain and carried a lot of technical baggage. SEO performance lagged and on AI search engines the site was barely findable for the right queries.
Approach
The full existing site scraped, all texts saved separately and rewritten with SEO and GEO in focus. Then a new Astro website built, hosted on Cloudflare Workers, with form handling via Resend and analytics in GA4 and Search Console.
Scrape, structure and rewrite for SEO and GEO
We built a custom scraper that automatically pulled the whole site (NL, FR, EN) and saved each page's text in separate Markdown files. From that knowledge base we rewrote the content per service (moving, storage, packing, international), with sharper headlines, FAQ blocks and clear query-driven structures.
For GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) we built every page around concrete questions people ask AI search engines: "how much does a move in Brussels cost?", "how far in advance should I pack for moving day?". With machine-readable schemas and clear entity references, so that Google as well as ChatGPT and Perplexity can easily cite the answers.
Astro and Cloudflare Workers: 4 times faster
The new site runs on Astro with islands architecture: zero JS by default, interactive components only where genuinely needed. That keeps the page size minimal and the first paint blazing fast.
Cloudflare Workers serves the site from 300+ edge locations worldwide, so every visitor gets the page delivered locally. The contact form runs on the Resend API; GA4 and Search Console handle analytics. End result: a site that loads 4 times faster than the old PHP version and scores 95/100 on PageSpeed mobile.
Trilingual (NL, FR, EN) without duplicate content
Servaes Services is active across Belgium and also handles international moves. The three language versions are structurally separate, with correct hreflang tagging and machine-readable schemas per language. Each version is findable in its own market without Google flagging the pages as duplicates.
4x faster than before
Astro's zero-JS architecture and Cloudflare's edge network made the site almost instantly responsive.
95/100 on PageSpeed mobile
Core Web Vitals jumped sharply, with measurable wins in LCP, INP and CLS.
