SEO agencies in Belgium: who shows proof, and what is a guarantee worth?

19 Belgian SEO agencies, each checked on its own site for address, service and proof. Including ourselves, and what a guarantee or badge is worth

SEO agencies in Belgium: who shows proof, and what is a guarantee worth?

Summary

  • This list contains 19 Belgian agencies that demonstrably offer SEO as a named service, ClickForest included, each checked on its own site for address and service on 14 September 2026
  • Only 3 of the other 18 agencies link a client name on their site to an SEO result you can verify yourself
  • 5 of the 18 refer to a first place or a guarantee on rankings or returns, or call themselves the best agency in Belgium, while Google writes that no one can guarantee a first place
  • As far as we could establish, there is no quality mark for SEO agencies: the Google Partners programme is about Google Ads, and FeWeb itself says its logo is not a quality label
  • Four candidates from the Google top 20 were left out, because they have no Belgian office or their headquarters or VAT number is abroad

Search Google for the best SEO agency in Belgium and you get a mix of agency pages, directories and lists, and those lists are often written by an SEO agency itself. We found four in Dutch. All four put their author at number one, and only one of them says so. None checks per agency whether it is based in Belgium and offers SEO as a service, and agencies from Brussels or Wallonia hardly appear in them.

This overview takes a different approach. We selected 18 agencies from the Google.be results on 14 September 2026 and from existing lists, checked on each agency’s own site whether it has a Belgian address and offers SEO as a service, and noted what proof it shows. ClickForest is in the list itself. We do not say who is the best, because that cannot be measured from the outside.

How was this list compiled?

With two checks, both verified on the agency’s own site on 14 September 2026: a Belgian address, and SEO as a named service on its own site. The candidates came from the first two pages of Google.be for six search terms in Dutch, French and English, supplemented with the agencies from existing Belgian lists.

The six search terms were “seo bureau”, “seo bureau belgië”, “beste seo bureau”, “seo agency belgium”, “agence seo belgique” and “agence seo bruxelles”. Rankings in Google shift constantly: two measurements of the same search term, a few minutes apart, gave a different order. That is why no agency has a position next to its name. We did not count directories such as Sortlist, Clutch and the agency lists of SE Ranking and Semrush as agencies. It is not a complete count either: some of the agencies in the search results fell outside our selection, and one was left out because its site gives no address.

ClickForest is in this list itself and has an interest in you choosing us. That is why the table is not a ranking. ClickForest is at the top, followed by the agencies per region in alphabetical order. And that is why there is a section at the end on who we are not the logical choice for.

What this overview does not do: it contains no links to the other agencies, because their name is enough to find them, and it does not mention agency prices. Being in this list means an agency demonstrably offers the service, not that it is good at it. ClickForest, which does SEO for SMEs in Flanders from Bonheiden near Mechelen, applied the same checks to itself as to the others.

Which Belgian agencies offer SEO as a service?

There are 19 in this list, ourselves included: 12 in Flanders, 3 in Brussels and 4 in Wallonia. They range from a founder-led agency to a team of 36 people. The table shows each agency’s profile as it appears on its own site, and what it shows there as proof of SEO results.

Agency Location Profile according to its own site Proof on its own site
ClickForest Bonheiden, Mechelen region Founder-led, SEO and GEO as one programme for SMEs and scale-ups in Flanders. Publishes its rates Client name with an SEO figure: Bastiano, 35% more organic traffic
Conversal Affligem Calls itself a "Digital Intelligence Agency", also a Teamleader specialist Results pages with client names; the featured case relies on Meta and Google Ads
Depends Deerlijk Says it focuses 100% on search engine optimisation; managing director Mathias Noyez Client name with an SEO figure, with Search Console as the source
Digital Climax Lille, province of Antwerp SEO agency of founder Axl Van Steenacker. Says on its own site that guarantees are impossible Client names, results mostly described in words
Kreatix Broechem Team of four specialists, also web design and Google Ads Client name with a revenue figure, from online presence and advertising combined

Sherlock SEO Agency Leuven SEO, websites and Google Ads for SMEs, scale-ups and franchises, English-language site Client reviews, no case with figures found
Varamedia Beernem Broad marketing agency of founder Jeroen Van Raemdonck Client names, no SEO figure found
WiSEO Bruges Part of Ants since 2024, with offices in Ghent and Antwerp Well-known client names, results described in words
Bluetime Auderghem, Brussels Full-service digital agency, site in three languages Three client names with an SEO figure over eight to twelve months
Local Web Etterbeek, Brussels French-speaking, founded in 2018 Testimonials
Universem Brussels and Namur 20 experts, site in three languages Client name with a figure, from acquisition campaigns and not specifically SEO
Clef2web Gosselies French-speaking, member of FeWeb Testimonials, no case with figures found
Ligne 1 Tilff, province of Liège French-speaking, founded by Nathalie Teston. Publishes price ranges Case with SEO figures, without a client name
Poush Ciney French-speaking, founded in 2014, B Corp certified. Gives indicative budgets Client names, no SEO figure found
ProduWeb Liège French-speaking, 36 experts for web, SEA and SEO Client names, no SEO figure found

By “SEO figure” we mean a result in organic traffic or rankings that the agency itself links to a named client. Those figures come from the agencies themselves and have not been independently verified, including ClickForest’s.

WiSEO, which was on page one for several search terms, has been part of Ants since September 2024, although the site still carries the Bruges address. The results also differ strongly by language: the French search terms show almost only agencies from Brussels and Wallonia, the Dutch ones almost only Flemish agencies and agencies from the Netherlands. If you want an agency that knows both regions, search in both languages.

Which agencies show an SEO result you can verify yourself?

Three of the other 18 agencies link a client name on their own site to a concrete SEO result: Depends, Kruisraket and Bluetime. Depends and Kruisraket add the measurement source, Search Console or SE Ranking. Most of the others show client names on their site without an SEO figure, or only testimonials. That is striking, because a case is the most direct proof of what an agency can do.

Google puts that question at the top of its own list for anyone hiring an SEO: “Can you show me examples of your previous work and share some success stories?” (Google Search Central). This is what it looks like for the 18 other agencies in the table:

  • Client name with an SEO figure: Depends and Kruisraket, with the measurement source, and Bluetime with three cases
  • Client name with a figure from several channels: Kreatix, Conversal and Universem; their figures are about revenue, bookings or customers, from a mix of channels or from advertising
  • SEO figures without a client name: Ligne 1
  • Client names, results mostly in words or without an SEO figure: Digital Climax, MaesMedia, Varamedia, WiSEO, Poush and ProduWeb
  • Only testimonials or reviews: Lex Digital, Local Web, Clef2web and Sherlock SEO Agency
  • Reference to the parent company’s cases: SEO Vlaanderen, whose AT Digital cases we did not check

Clients do not always want their figures made public, and that is a legitimate reason not to show them. So ask about it in a first meeting: a case with a client name, a figure and the source of that figure, so you can verify it yourself.

ClickForest shows one itself: at caterer Bastiano in Bonheiden, structured data and SEO content delivered 35% more organic traffic. How structured data works is explained in our guide to structured data. Want to know how ClickForest approaches SEO for SMEs in Flanders? Take a look at our SEO programme.

What is a guarantee of first place in Google worth?

Little: Google itself writes that no one can guarantee a first place in Google. Yet 5 of the other 18 agencies refer on their own site to a first place or a guarantee on rankings or returns, or call themselves the best SEO agency in Belgium. Two agencies in the list in fact warn against such promises.

“No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google. Beware of SEOs that claim to guarantee rankings, allege a “special relationship” with Google, or advertise a “priority submit” to Google.”

— Google Search Central, documentation “Do you need an SEO?”

Those claims take different forms, quoted here in translation: a title promising that you go “straight to position #1”, “guaranteed top results”, a place at the top of Google and AI “with a guarantee”, an “ROI Garanti” (in French on the site), or the title of best SEO agency in Belgium without a source. Who wrote what, we leave out here: it is about the pattern. Digital Climax writes that no SEO specialist can make “promises such as ‘guaranteed position 1 in x weeks’” (translated from Dutch), and Kreatix warns against quick promises: “Quickly higher in Google? No such thing.” (translated from Dutch).

Google employee John Mueller calls such a promise a warning sign:

“One of the things I would watch out for is, if an SEO makes any promises with regards to ranking or traffic from Search, that’s usually a red flag, because a lot of things around SEO you can’t promise ahead of time.”

— John Mueller, Search Advocate at Google, in the podcast Search Off the Record, via Search Engine Journal (July 2025)

What a good agency can promise is an approach, a schedule and honest measurement. FeWeb, the Belgian federation of web companies, asks its members for, among other things, a “detailed and realistic planning for approach, timing and delivery” (translated from Dutch, FeWeb). What a programme costs and what it includes is covered in what outsourcing SEO costs.

Is there a quality mark or certification for SEO agencies?

No, not as far as we could establish. In Belgium there is no quality mark, no official recognition and no independent ranking for SEO agencies. What you do come across are badges that measure something else: the Google Partners programme is about Google Ads, tool certificates belong to a course for individuals, and FeWeb itself says its logo is not a quality label.

  • Google Partner. To obtain that status, an agency must among other things “maintain a 90-day ad spend of $10,000 USD across managed accounts”, and at least half of its account strategists must be certified in Google Ads (Google Ads Help). Those requirements say nothing about SEO or organic search. Several agencies in this list carry the badge, and that says something about their work with Google Ads. How Google Ads and SEO work together is covered in SEA and SEO combined.
  • “Certified by Google.” One agency writes that its team is “certifiés par Google”. We did not find such a certification for SEO at Google. Google itself writes: “Google doesn’t evaluate or endorse third-party SEO tools” (Google Search Central).
  • Tool certificates. Semrush Academy gives a “certificate of completion” after its free courses (Semrush). That certificate is in the name of the student.
  • DIN SPEC 33461. A German specification from June 2025 titled “Methodology for search engine optimization (SEO) of websites” (DIN Media). According to its initiators it is “keine DIN-Norm, sondern eine Spezifikation” (not a DIN standard but a specification), and it is not mandatory (DIN SPEC 33461).
  • FeWeb. The federation has 520 members, web companies in general (FeWeb). About its logo it writes: “This is not a quality label, but it does indicate that the company deserves trust.” (translated from Dutch, FeWeb).

Why do some agencies rank high in Google yet not appear in this list?

Sometimes because they fell outside our selection or give no address on their site, and sometimes because they turned out not to be Belgian. The agency that was on page one for “seo bureau belgië” on 14 September writes itself that it has no Belgian office. Three other candidates from the top 20 have their headquarters or VAT number in the Netherlands, Bulgaria or Malta.

That first agency is honest about it: “There is no Belgian office where you can drop by, and we do not hide that.” (translated from Dutch). By its own account it is the Belgian part of another company. The other three:

  • an agency with a sales office in Antwerp, whose headquarters and other offices are in the Netherlands
  • an agency with an address in Genk that lists a Bulgarian VAT number and a headquarters at a Bulgarian address in its footer; it is at number one in two Dutch-language “best” lists on other sites
  • an agency with an office in Antwerp, with its registered office and VAT number in Malta

For “seo bureau” and “beste seo bureau”, at least four agencies from the Netherlands also appeared in the Belgian top 20. The existing lists do not filter on this. One list that was on page one ranks agencies on their own Google rankings, measured in July 2019.

A foreign registered office says nothing about the quality of the work. If you are looking for a Belgian agency, for example for a fixed point of contact or knowledge of the Belgian market, you will find the address and VAT number in the footer. If you mainly look for customers in your own region, experience with local SEO weighs more heavily than the size of a team.

How long does it take for an SEO agency to deliver results?

No one can promise a fixed timeframe. In 2017 Google mentioned in a video four months to a year to first implement improvements and then potentially see results. Google’s current “Do you need an SEO?” page no longer mentions a timeframe. An agency that promises quick rankings is selling something it does not control.

Those four months to a year come from Maile Ohye of Google, in a video from February 2017 (Search Engine Roundtable). John Mueller put it more briefly in January 2024: “Nobody can guarantee you traffic, sorry.” (Search Engine Roundtable). American SEO strategist Lily Ray warns against the opposite reflex:

“I actually think trying to drive results quickly is one of the worst things you can do unless you’re only focused on results for the next year or two.”

— Lily Ray, SEO strategist, in Search Engine Land (September 2026)

The same applies to AI search engines. According to Lily Ray, good SEO is “the single best and most sustainable and important thing you can do for AI search visibility” (Search Engine Land). Google has shown AI Overviews in Belgium since March 2025, in English first (Google). How SEO and GEO relate is covered in the difference between SEO and GEO, and how Belgian websites perform today in our study of 200 Belgian websites.

How do you check an SEO agency yourself before you sign?

Ask for a case with a client name, a figure and a measurement source, look at the address and VAT number in the footer, and distrust any guarantee on rankings. Ask who does the work and how the agency reports. A badge or a domain score says little. Google itself publishes a list of questions for anyone hiring an SEO, and it starts with the question about previous work.

  1. Ask for proof you can verify. A client name, a figure and the source of that figure, for example Search Console. Without a source, a percentage is a claim.
  2. Look at the footer. A Belgian address and VAT number tell you whether you are talking to a Belgian agency.
  3. Read the promises. A first place, guaranteed traffic or “the best agency in Belgium” is something no one can deliver.
  4. Ask who you discuss the work with and who carries it out. Those can be two different people, and you want to know that in advance.
  5. Ask how things are measured and reported. Which figures you get every month, and from which source.
  6. Do not be guided by a domain score. Scores such as Domain Authority come from SEO tools. Danny Sullivan of Google said about that: “Well, it’s not our domain score. We don’t have that.” (Search Engine Roundtable).

The same Danny Sullivan also puts the role of the agency itself into perspective:

“Anyway, SEOs and SEO tools can be helpful, but they are not required.”

— Danny Sullivan, Search Liaison at Google, in the podcast Search Off the Record, via Search Engine Roundtable (January 2026)

For the texts an agency writes for you, a Belgian SEO specialist offers a useful test. He runs one of the agencies in this list himself:

“My guideline there is: would I also publish this text in this way if Google did not exist?”

— Axl Van Steenacker, founder of Digital Climax, in Bloovi (December 2023, translated from Dutch)

A selection from Google’s list of questions, with ClickForest’s answer to each of them, is in what outsourcing SEO costs. If you first want to know where your site stands, an SEO audit maps that out in depth.

Who is ClickForest the right choice for, and who not?

For SMEs and scale-ups that want SEO and GEO as one programme, with the person who sells it also doing the work. ClickForest does SEO for SMEs in Flanders, founder-led from Bonheiden near Mechelen, publishes its rates and shows its own measurements. If you are looking for a large team, a French-speaking partner or a pure SEO specialist, you are better off elsewhere.

Our own site is the test case. In Search Console (Belgium, 14 June to 12 September 2026), our page for SEO in the Mechelen region ranks on average at position 2.7 for “seo bureau mechelen”, our service page at 2.9 for “seo bureau vlaanderen”, and our page for SEO in Antwerp at 5.3 for “seo bureau antwerpen”. For the broad search term “beste seo bureau belgië” we are not on page one ourselves yet. Ranking agencies on their own Google rankings mainly measures how well an agency sells itself.

Sometimes you are better off elsewhere. If you want a large team with many specialists under one roof, ProduWeb, with 36 experts according to its own site, or Universem, with 20, suits you better than a founder-led set-up. If you mainly target the French-speaking market, Poush and Clef2web work in French from Wallonia, and Bluetime from Brussels in three languages. If you want an agency that does only SEO, Depends says it focuses entirely on search engine optimisation. And if you work in a legal or other complex sector, Lex Digital specifically targets those.

What our programme looks like is on the pages about SEO and GEO as one programme and GEO optimisation. Looking for something else? Similar overviews exist for GEO agencies in Belgium and Shopify agencies.

Conclusion: what proof do you ask an SEO agency for?

A case you can verify yourself, a Belgian address if that matters to you, and no guarantee on rankings. Those are the checks this list of 19 agencies is built on, and they take you a few minutes per agency at most.

What struck us most while compiling it is how few agencies show their results on their own site: for 3 of the 18 we found a client name with an SEO figure. ClickForest, which does SEO for SMEs in Flanders from Bonheiden near Mechelen, is itself in this list, so read it with that in mind. Why a site does not rank high today is explained in why your website is not ranking in Google, and the terms in this article are in the glossary.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

There is no objective number one: the quality of SEO work cannot be measured from the outside, and existing lists often put their own author at the top. Judge an agency on a case with a client name, a figure and a measurement source, on a Belgian address and on the absence of guarantees. ClickForest, which does SEO for SMEs in Flanders, is itself in this list of 19 agencies.

On 14 September 2026, 3 of the other 18 agencies in this list published prices or price ranges on their site: Lex Digital, Ligne 1 and Poush, the latter as an indication. ClickForest publishes its rates too, and the article on what outsourcing SEO costs explains what they include.

No. The Google Partners programme is about Google Ads: the requirements cover ad spend, an optimisation score and Ads certifications, and do not mention SEO. The badge says something about an agency's advertising work.

No one can promise a fixed timeframe. In 2017 Google mentioned four months to a year to first implement improvements and then potentially see results, but Google's current "Do you need an SEO?" page no longer mentions a timeframe. According to ClickForest, which guides SEO for SMEs in Flanders, you judge a programme on the direction of your figures over several months.

Look at the address and VAT number in the footer or the legal notice of the site. While compiling this list, four candidates from the Google top 20 turned out to have no Belgian office, or their headquarters or VAT number abroad.
